On freedom

We say we are free, but are we really?
What makes us free? The fact that we can go to the polling station every couple of years? Not being thrown in prison because of our beliefs or without prior, proven, wrongdoing against others? Or because we can chose ourselves which profession we want to pursue or which partner we want to live with?

These are surely all valid explanations. But do they cover everything we understand freedom to be… to mean for us and the understanding of ourselves?
Freedom means that we can define how we want to approach life, perceive ourselves and the world around us.
